CROME and Accurate (the future front end of our system) have been used to monitor the radiation that are generated during the interaction of iron ions with a stable target. Several detectors have been installed. 2 into the cave beside the target and 3 above the shielding perpendicular to the dump.
The tests will allow us to compare the responses of CROME with the current front-end to Accurate for both high radiation and for low levels in real conditions. They will also give us the opportunity to benchmark Fluka for heavy ions.
The configuration inside the bunker is as follow. For correct benchmarking, the positions of the PMIs detectors have been moved to various location where the energy and the composition of the secondary field are different.
